I grew up in New York on Long Island. Moved to North Carolina in 1990 and graduated from Avery High School in 1991. Went to college at Western Carolina University for about a year ... lets just say that didn't work out. Worked with my dad for a few years until I got a job at Chetola Resort on the Grounds maintenance crew. From their I was moved to building maintenance until I got onto the construction crew as a carpenter. I was always a fast learner and had had some great mentors along the way from whom I learned all aspects of building. Of course I have my dad to thank for the inspiration to be self employed. In 1996 I Joined the Marine Corps Reserves and went off to Boot Camp for 14 weeks. Then in 1997 I took a job offer doing tile. Once again, I picked up the trade very quickly and saw a future in it.
I started my business from scratch in late 1998. And I mean scratch! I was 23 years old and looked about 19. I purchased a few tools on a credit card and practically begged people to give me a chance. Sometimes I didn't think it would work out and even looked for a job at times. But with a lot of determination and family support I have steadily built my business from working alone to having as many as 12 full time employees.
